3 JOHN – LESSON 11

I. PRAYER AND PRAISE FOR Gaius (v. 1-8)

A. Salutation of sincere love to Gaius (v.1)

B. Prayer for Gaius’ continued prosperity: physical and spiritual (v.2)

C. John’s great joy for Gaius’ continued walk in the truth (v.3-4)  

D. Praise for Gaius’ hospitality to brethren who are serving God in the name of Christ (v.5-8)

1. Hospitality to strangers is a faithful work.

2. The strangers reported of Gaius’ expressions of love in the assembly where John attends.

3. Gaius will do well to again assist the messengers worthily of God when they return.

a. The strangers are worth, because they take nothing of the Gentiles for the sake of Christ.

b. In receiving the messengers, one becomes fellow-worker for the truth.
