I. PAUL’S ENCOURAGING EXHORTATION TO THE THESSALONIANS (2:13-
A. Paul exhorts brethren to stand fast (2:13-
1. Paul is thankful for God’s purpose being worked out in the Thessalonians (v. 13-

b. God’s goal: unto salvation – to obtain glory of our Lord Jesus Christ
1. In sanctification of the Spirit
2. In belief of the truth
c. God’s means: called through the gospel Paul proclaimed.
2. Paul exhorts regarding consequences of God’s purpose being worked out in the Thessalonians (v.15)
a. Stand fast

2. by epistle of Paul and his fellow workers
B. Paul encourages through prayer (2:16-
1. He requests the already comforting God to comfort the Thessalonians’ hearts.

C. Paul exhorts brethren to pray for him and his fellow workers (3:1-
1. Request: that the word of the lord may run and be glorified – that they would be delivered from unreasonable and evil men.
D. Paul encourages brethren with confidence (3:3-
1. Confidence in the Lord who is faithful (v.3)
a. Who will establish brethren
b. Who will guard brethren from the evil one and the patience of Christ.
E. Paul exhorts through prayer (3:5).
1. Request: Lord direct the Thessalonians’ hearts into the love of God and the patience of Christ.
